CHARACTERplus Member Districts Reach 50
Elsberry R-II School District becomes new member

CHARACTERplus, a project of the Cooperating School Districts of Greater St. Louis, Inc. (CSD) is pleased to announce the Elsberry R-II School District has joined its growing network that now serves 26,000 teachers and 280,000 students throughout Missouri and Illinois. The addition of the Elsberry R-II School District brings the number of CHARACTERplus member districts to 50.
CHARACTERplus is devoted to advancing the cause and importance of character education and provides quality training, resources, and leadership to help parents and schools accomplish one of their most important jobs, the character development of the next generation.
As part of the membership Elsberry R-II School District staff will have the opportunity to attend CHARACTERplus workshops and seminars featuring national speakers on character development in students. In addition, two staff members will have the opportunity to attend the 15th annual Character Education Conference, July 9-10 at the Hyatt Regency St. Louis Riverfront Hotel. Elsberry R-II School District has already announced they will take part in a pilot training program of the CHARACTERplus Way prior to the upcoming national conference. CHARACTERplus Way is an intense character education program born out of several federal research grants that CHARACTERplus has received.
CHARACTERplus member schools have earned the highest percentage of national character education awards of any region or state in the country. In the past two years, they have won 38 percent of the rigorous National School of Character titles and 30 percent of the Promising Practice Awards.
Other CHARACTERplus member districts in the area are the Lincoln County R-III School District and Winfield R-IV School District.
