The International Education Consortium (IEC), a program of the
Cooperating School Districts of Greater St. Louis, Inc. (CSD), will
conduct a two-day history colloquium entitled, “Historical
Imagination.” The event honoring David McCullough, historian,
teacher, and best-selling author, takes place April 24-25, from
8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Cooperating School Districts, 1460
Craig Road.
Historical Imagination is a professional development opportunity
for teachers to experience “doing history” while exploring the role
of imagination in effective teaching and learning. Teachers will
work with scholars and master teachers as they demonstrate
effective ways of teaching history and practice history’s habits in
mind. Lessons drawn from U.S. and Asian history will exemplify how
to fire the imagination through reading and writing history and
sessions will explore the roles of literature and the arts in
effective and engaging history teaching. This event is supported by
the National Council for History Education and the Richard King
Mellon Foundation.
A visit by David McCullough will be a highlight of the colloquium
on Friday, April 24.
This event is free to teachers with attendance limited to 36.
Registration for both days is required. Priority is given to past
participants from the IEC Asia and TAH programs.
