Register Now for Best Practices Conference

More than 200 to attend annual event

The Best Practices Conference, now in its third year, is an annual event sponsored by the Cooperating School Districts of Greater St. Louis, Inc. (CSD) and the St. Louis Regional Professional Development Center (RPDC).  This year’s conference will be held February 26 at the Maryland Heights Center, 2344 McKelvey Road.

The Best Practices Conference provides attendees with ideas and strategies from local teachers and CSD professional developers that have proven effective in making a difference for students and teachers.
Conference attendees will have the opportunity to attend four breakout sessions and also hear keynote speaker Tierney Cahill, author of Ms. Cahill for Congress, which has just been released.  Ms. Cahill for Congress is the story of a fearless teacher, her sixth grade students, and the election that changed their lives. The book is being made into a movie entitled, Class Act, starring Halle Barry.
In addition, a special treat will be a breakout session from Margaret Williams, 2008-2009 Missouri Teacher of the Year, from University City High School. Ms. Williams' session, Bringing the African-American Experience to Life, provides suggestions on how to make African-American studies more engaging, yet full of learning.  Participants will be involved in several activities covering ancient African studies, slavery, and the 20th and 21st centuries. These activities are more than just hands-on.  They involve the arts, literature, research, geography, and more.  Ms. Williams has successfully used these ideas in her classroom.

The conference is limited to 200, so register today to save your place!  To register or request more information, please contact: Karen Vaughan at 314-692-9731 or kvaughan@csd.org
