Big Event for Teachers Program

International Education Consortium (IEC) and Saint Louis Art Museum Offer Full Day of Professional Development

The International Education Consortium (IEC) and the Saint Louis Art Museum are pooling their resources to provide a full day of professional development for the annual Big Event for Teachers program.  The event will take place Monday, November 5 at the Saint Louis Art Museum, beginning at 8 a.m.

The Saint Louis Art Museum sponsors the Big Event for Teachers program as a day of professional development including workshops, gallery tours, and art-making activities.   The upcoming IEC event will focus on Missouri history through creative writing, storytelling, and visual art using the exhibition George Caleb Bingham: The Making of “The County Election.”

Workshop offerings include; Look, Listen, Learn: Teaching Through Storytelling, which investigate ways to incorporate dramatic storytelling techniques to enhance lessons and excite young imaginations with storyteller and performer Sherry Norfolk; American Vision and Ideals: Discovering America Through Art and Literature, which explores connections to history and literature in the art of Mid-America and the American West with Missouri art teachers Gloria Brazell and Diana Haydon.

The IEC and the Big Event for Teachers program provides two options for educators to plan their day.  For more information, visit: www.csd.org and click on the Big Event for Teachers link.  Or contact: Megan Moncure, at 314.692.9702 or mmoncure@csd.org
