Gerald E. Daniels

Former Boeing President to Play a Major Role in Character Education

CHARACTERplus, an initiative of Cooperating School Districts, is pleased to announce that Gerald E. Daniels has accepted the position of vice-chairman of the CHARACTERplus Planning and Advisory Board. Daniels is a retired aerospace/defense industry executive, having served as president and chief executive officer of Boeing Military Aircraft and Missile Systems. Most recently, he was CEO of Engineered Support. Daniels has served on the advisory board of CHARACTERplus for two years. Daniels is a member of the St. Louis Science Center Board of Commissioners and the Saint Louis University Board of Trustees. He also serves on the board of directors of BJC Health System and he chairs the boards for Christian Hospital and Youth in Need. Liz Gibbons, director of CHARACTERplus said, “We are very fortunate to have someone of the caliber of Jerry Daniels. His knowledge of the corporate environment coupled with his years of work with not-for-profit organizations is a huge win for CHARACTERplus. He will help to lead us in new directions, providing even more benefits to the schools we serve.” CHARACTERplus is designed to address issues related to student character, responsibility, and academic achievement. CHARACTERplus provides training, resources, and leadership to help parents and schools accomplish one of their most important jobs – the character development of the next generation. Cooperating School Districts (CSD) is an educational consortium serving 65 public school districts in Missouri and Illinois. CHARACTERplus was founded in 1988 as a project of CSD.
